Okay so today it took me a minute to process feelings, but I started playing all my mother and father's old music. They were REAL hippies.
Get Together by the Youngbloods.
Turn!Turn!Turn! by the Turtles.
Give Me Love, Give Me Peace On Earth by George Harrison.
Give Peace A Chance by the Plastic Ono Band (John Lennon, Yoko Ono and their friends).
All the old anthems that our older generation listened to when they were young and cared about the world around them and had all the energy and hope. They are all older folks now. There is no limit to the optimistic music of that generation.
I got tears in my eyes. Processing all the feelings I have had for the last four years that was highly traumatic for many of us, those of us that are environmentalists and those of us for human rights. I am a card carrying member of the ACLU. It has been hard to live through this, hard to watch all this, all the toxic division and hate. We have watched discord and prejudice as well as violence, while hundreds of thousands of us died. Now It is a time to heal, it is a time to love one another. A time to come together to find unity. To extend love to one another, find the empathy within us.
We need to be more like the hippie generation. We need to care about our fellow man. We need to love one another, and all creatures on Earth, we need to love the Earth itself. There is a change in the energy right now that permeated us, the constricted, dysfunctional and hateful energy is now a loving energy, one of unity. Many of us are sighing in relief and feeling like we have been let out of a prison. It is a joyous time and a time for reflection at the same time. A time to celebrate our humanity, the positive side of our humanity. I am going to leave you with the lyrics that talk about the cycle and the time for things as we all go through them in the macrocosm as well as the microcosm. After I just cried with relief, and joy today and released so many feelings, I am now tired and will be taking a nice long nap after this.
I leave you with the lyrics to The Turtle's song, Turn!Turn!Turn!
To everything (turn, turn, turn) There is a season (turn, turn, turn) And a time to every purpose, under heaven
A time to be born, a time to die A time to plant, a time to reap A time to kill, a time to heal A time to laugh, a time to weep
To everything (turn, turn, turn) There is a season (turn, turn, turn) And a time to every purpose, under heaven
A time to build up, a time to break down A time to dance, a time to mourn A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together
To everything (turn, turn, turn) There is a season (turn, turn, turn) And a time to every purpose, under heaven
A time of love, a time of hate A time of war, a time of peace A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing
To everything (turn, turn, turn) There is a season (turn, turn, turn) And a time to every purpose, under heaven
A time to gain, a time to lose A time to rend, a time to sew A time for love, a time for hate A time for peace, I swear it's not too late
Now we are in a time for love and a time for peace. something we will cherish.
